simplified RC snubber circuit.\u00a0 These circuits are included in boost converters, buck converters, and rectifiers.\u00a0 Typical application include inverters, power supplies, battery chargers, and motor drives.\u00a0 The snubber circuits are used to limit the excessive inductive energy associated with the fast switching of high currents.\u00a0 When the MOSFET (Q1) is switched off, the capacitor (C1) charges through the resistor (R1) and the current will flow from top to bottom.\u00a0 When the MOSFET is switched on the capacitor will discharge through the resistor and MOSFET to ground.\u00a0 Due to high switching frequencies the inductance of the resistor must be minimized and Riedon\u2019s power film resistors are an ideal choice for these applications.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>Key attributes of the PF series power resistors<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Planar design for very low inductance (&lt;50nH)<\/li>\n<li>Electrically isolated backplate<\/li>\n<li>Thick or thin film depending on resistance value<\/li>\n<li>Surface mount, Through Hole, Screw\/flying lead terminations<\/li>\n<li>High power density<\/li>\n<li>Very low thermal resistance to minimize heatsink
