Riedon’s Balancing Resistors
Balancing resistors provide a way for sharing a load between two or more DC-DC converters or power transistors. Using two smaller devices in parallel may have cost, thermal, or physical advantages when compared to one device of higher output. However simply tying the outputs of two converters/transistors together does not ensure they share the load current equally. Adding resistors of equal value on the output of the DC-DC converters or transistors helps equalize the current load from each device.
